For the faithful departed.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.
Amen.
May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
About the Eternal Rest
The Eternal Rest prayer, or Requiem Aeternam, asks God’s mercy for the souls of the faithful departed. Catholics pray it for family and friends who have died, at funerals, throughout November and when visiting a cemetery.
